WRNS Cathie Orser - Retired Active 1943-1945

On Saturday August 2oth I had an amazing opportunity to spend the afternoon with 99 year old WWII veteran WRNS Cathie Orser - Retired who served from 1943 to 1945 in the Women's Royal Naval Service. This opportunity happened due to her niece Kathy in Vancouver seeing the CBC or Global TV broadcast on the project. Next morning she flipped me a email with the contact of Cathie’s daughter and son. After working out dates all the stars aligned for this past weekend.

The experience was amazing - the stories she shared about herself, her time serving and her husband who was a bomber in the Royal Canadian Air Force was like a history lesson that you’d never get from a book. Was so honour to have the opportunity to photograph her and meet her family.

Le samedi 2 août, j'ai eu la chance de passer l'après-midi avec une ancienne combattante de la Seconde Guerre mondiale âgée de 99 ans, WRNS Cathie Orser - retraitée, qui a servi de 1943 à 1945 dans le Women's Royal Naval Service. Cette occasion s'est présentée parce que sa nièce Kathy, à Vancouver, a vu l'émission de la CBC ou de Global TV sur le projet. Le lendemain matin, elle m'a envoyé un courriel contenant les coordonnées de la fille et du fils de Cathie. Après avoir fixé des dates, toutes les étoiles se sont alignées pour le week-end dernier.

L'expérience a été extraordinaire - les histoires qu'elle a partagées sur elle-même, son temps de service et son mari qui était bombardier dans l'Aviation royale du Canada étaient comme une leçon d'histoire qu'on ne pourrait jamais obtenir dans un livre. J'ai été très honoré d'avoir l'occasion de la photographier et de rencontrer sa famille.

His skill, vision, and passion for his art have led him to travel and establish a reputation in Toronto, New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, London, Milano, and Perth – putting him and his camera in front of notable personalities and Hollywood’s leading men and women. In 2017, Trevor was named the Canadian brand ambassador to Elinchrom Limited (based out of Switzerland).

In addition to photography, having graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree, Trevor’s creative range also includes painting, sculpture, and design. His mastery of these disciplines has led to his work being exhibited at Coldstream Fine Art and the Gardiner Museum in Toronto.

Trevor continues to mentor the next generation of aspiring photographers and artists, who he hopes will continue to tell human interest stories with vision and expressiveness. Trevor is an active supporter of local charities, including NATO Association of Canada, Jays Care Foundation, Remix Project, and CTV and Salvation Army’s Toy Mountain.

Trevor currently resides in Toronto, Canada.
